Ribbons are a necessary component when printing with thermal transfer labels, making for a fast and productive process.

Thermal transfer labels and ribbon can be used in compatible desktop and industrial printers. We offer custom software too for the above purpose.

Different types of ribbons are used for different types of label printing. They vary depending on the need, budget, type of industry etc. The three types of ribbons are wax ribbon, wax resin ribbon and finally resin ribbon.

In thermal transfer printing, ribbon cartridges are used . During the printing process, heat-sensitive paper is inserted into the machine and then squeezed between the printer's thermal head and platen roller.

The paper comes into contact with the ink in the ribbon cartridge with the use of a spring on the printer head itself.

Heat is essential to the thermal transfer printing process, and thus, when heat is applied onto the paper and the ink, the ink in the ribbon cartridge and sticks to the paper.

Wax Ribbon

Wax Ribbon costs the lowest & are used for general label applications.

Wax ribbons are the softest of the three ribbons and so they are vulnerable to smudging and scratching.

Also, since it is the cheapest of the three ribbons, it is mostly used for general label applications such as paper label printing, address labels, shipping labels, garment tags, price tickets, warehouse applications, compliance label printing, including shelf and bin labels, retail tag and label applications.

Wax Resin Ribbon

Wax Resin Ribbons are great for barcode printing

Wax Resin ribbons has penetrated the market as thermal transfer ribbon for barcode printing and are used for a wide range of purposes right from printing on PPC paper to plastics.

Wax resin ribbons offer excellent printing speed, scratch resistance and versatility and are a little expensive than wax ribbons . These ribbons can be used in high speed print applications, shelf and bin labeling, Drum labeling , part marking labeling and high gloss labels.

Resin Ribbon

Resin Thermal Transfer ribbons are designed for the most demanding applications

Resin Ribbons are the most expensive of the three ribbons but resin ribbons are the hardest type of the three ribbons, being scratch and chemical resistant.

Resin Thermal Transfer ribbons are used when in need of resistances to mechanical stresses, high or low temperature environments, or even solvents . Best printing receptors for Resin ribbons are glossy coated paper labels.
